FRANK O’DOWD, President
In
1979, Frank acquired his first job as Shaper on the now famous
Golf Course at Ballybunion, Ireland. This course was designed
by Robert Trent Jones, Snr, who is widely regarded as the most
reputable Golf Course Designer of modern golf design worldwide.
While working on this project, Frank’s natural ability
for the shaping of greens and fairways along with his strong
ethic was quickly recognized by the Robert Trent Jones organization.
In 1980 he started with Greenscape Ltd., which is the Construction
Company of the Robert Trent Jones Jnr., Design. Frank spent the
next eight years learning all aspects of golf course construction
and design, along with turf grass maintenance, throughout the
USA, Europe and Asia, completing over 20 golf courses world wide.
In 1988, Frank decided that a break from traveling was needed,
and, therefore, he returned to New York and joined Intercity
Construction as vice president, a general contracting company
in New York City. While studying Business Administration in College
by night, he was preparing himself for a return to the golf course
construction industry, but this time with his own Company. In
1992, the Intergolf Group was established and has to date successfully
completed projects worldwide.
JOHN ADAMS, Project Manager
With 13 years in the
golf course industry, John has developed various skills on numerous
projects throughout the U.S. Through commitment to quality and
dedication, John is highly regarded by those who have had the opportunity
to work with him. He graduated from LeMoyne College, NY in 1992 and
quickly started his Golf Course career at Cobblestone Creek, New
York. His management skills and excellent work ethic soon promoted
him to Construction Superintendent/Project Manager. John has been
involved with many architects, namely, Arthur Hills, Palmer & Assocs,
Tom Fazio and Dr. Michael Hurdzan, on numerous projects throughout
the U.S. He has strong communication skills that allow him to convey
his ideas to his co-workers. His experience, professionalism
and industry resourcefulness has been an asset to our Company.
ANNITA
HORGAN, Financial Officer
Annita joined Intergolf in
1992. She has extensive experience working with multinational
companies both in Ireland and the United States. Having spent
5 years with a private Investment Banking Institution in the
heart of Manhattan, Allen & Company
Inc., Annita decided to return to Ireland and was recruited by
M.F.Kent, an International Construction and Engineering Company
based in Clonmel, Ireland. Her earlier career commenced in the
Planning Department of Kerry County Council. Her responsibilities
with Intergolf include cash management, financial reporting,
equipment financing, tax analysis, auditing, budgeting and job
cost analysis as well as maintaining the company’s financing
and banking relationships. Her experience of traveling, along
with her financial background provide a valuable asset to Intergolf
and strengthens the management team.
ROISIN O’ REILLY, Office
Manager
In 1999, Roisin was hired to assist in bookkeeping
and front office duties, but her exceptional organizational skills
and business talents have already earned her the position of
Office Manager. She is instrumental with organizing the daily
office operations including cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts
payable, payroll, advertising, billing and coordinating correspondence
between all site offices. She is proficient in numerous computer
applications, including, but not limited to enhancing and updating
our Company Brochure. Prior to joining Intergolf, Roisin spent
her earlier years working with ‘Irish Fertilizer Industries’,
Dublin. She worked in the Sales Accounts Department, dealing
with over IRP 100M worth of sales per annum. Roisin is professional,
detailed and especially gifted with customer service and has
been a valued employee to Intergolf.
MELVIN LUCAS, Consultant - Agronomist & Grow
in Expert
Mel has over 40 years experience in the golf
course industry. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University
and The University of Massachusetts in Turfgrass Management
and from there began his career as a Greenkeeper at the Homestead
Golf & Country
Club, NJ. He progressed through the ranks as Asst. Superintendent,
Golf Superintendent, Construction Superintendent and Links Supervisor
to Consultant. His experience as a ‘Consultant’ worldwide
has played a significant role in many Golf Clubs, from their
inception, grow-in, greenkeeper training, programming all phases
of fine turf culture, acceptable environmental pesticide and
fertilizer usage applications. Mel was employed by Intergolf
in 1999. To date, his opinion, expert advice and hands-on grow-in
skills have been a valuable asset to Intergolf.
He has many Club
and Green Industry Credentials as follows: GCSAA, (President
1980), Long Island GCSA (President 1973-75), Metropolitan GCSA,
Cape Cod Turfgrass Managers Assocs., American Society of Agronomy,
NY State Turfgrass Assocs., (President 1978-79), Scottish-International
Golf Greenkeeper Assocs., and the USGA.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERTISE
PHILIP MOYLAN, Shaper International and
Domestic Shaper
Phil is a Shaper, with over 16 years experience
worldwide. His background as a course superintendent and his
involvement with grow-in greatly enhance his abilities in the construction
field. He has worked on Robert Trent Jones Jnr., and Gary Player
projects both in Australia and Asia. Prior to joining Intergolf,
his most recent project was in China for a South African Company,
Golf Scape, where he held the position as Lead Shaper and Site
co-coordinator. His many assignments worldwide have honed his
skills with every type of equipment and site conditions possible.
He has the ability, imagination and understanding it takes to transform
a golf course architects’ vision into reality.
